What should I do if I feel that I have been a victim of identity Theft?
- Report identity theft to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at identitytheft.gov or call 1-877-438-4338.
- Contact and notify the companies where you know the fraud occurred.
- Add a free one-year fraud alert by contacting any one of the three major credit bureaus — they’ll notify the other two for you.
- Request your free credit report to check for any signs of fraud. You may also want to place a credit freeze to help prevent further misuse.
